Nikast® is a hybrid material that incorporates the best properties of a ceramic and an alloy steel to give exceptional mechanical properties at elevated temperature and can be used as a structural material in its own right.

Nikast® is supplied only as precast and pre-dried shapes, which are designed according to the best refractories engineering principles to replace other metallic and ceramic components and provide superior performance at much lower cost.

Nikast® incorporates the best attributes of refractory and of refractory cast iron. About 60% of the Nikast® sold replaces refractories and about 40% of the Nikast® sold replaces cast iron. Nikast® is not a commodity it is an engineered solution to specific problems. It is part ceramic, part metal and part engineering. N G Johnson sell about 40% of Nikast® into ferrous industries, 40% into non ferrous industries and about 20% into other applications such as cement etc.

Nikast® is a range of stainless steel fibre reinforced, precast refractory blocks, and with enhanced mechanical properties at elevated temperature to resist high levels of stress in compression, tension, torsion, impact and abrasion situations. They are widely and successfully used in applications in the metallurgical, mineral, ceramic, incineration, petrochemical and utilities industries worldwide.
